Every time I do a new piece, I try to make it better than the last one. I don't always succeed... in fact I would say that I usually don't succeed at all, but something has really been bothering me about some of the people I follow. Now that I'm not inundated by 1,000 messages a day, I've been able to take the time to look at the artwork of the people I follow, and it really saddens me how many don't seem to show any improvement over their stuff from 6 months ago or a year ago. One person in particular has brand new art that looks exactly the same as the stuff they were posting four years ago, down to the poses and everything. It's great to have your own style, but come on people, try something new. Try a different character attitude. Try a different angle. Try something different.
Another person I watch has all of their characters all posed almost exactly the same, every single time. I even called them out on it and told them to try something different every once in a while, and they said they would, but then they never have.
I know it's none of my business, but I just felt like venting, I guess. Art is an amazing expression of who we are. Are so many people really that static?
